Take Care of your Tattoo!

If NOT using second skin

  • Take the bandage off in about an hour.

  • DO NOT BANDAGE THE TATTOO AGAIN.

  • Wash the tattoo thoroughly using mild antibacterial soap (like Dial or dove) with clean hands.

  • Pat dry with a clean towel or let air dry.

  • Apply a SUPER THIN layer of ointment on your new tattoo (So thin that you almost want to wipe it off).

  • Repeat steps above 2-3 times a day for about a week.

  • Expect your tattoo to be swollen, red, and oozing for the first few days.

  • Your tattoo will start peeling after the first few days and may scab. DO NOT PICK at the scabs because it will cause the ink to fall out.

  • Once it is peeling and there are no more open wounds (about a week), you can stop washing it and stop using ointment.

  • You can now start using lotion because it will be dry and a little scaly.

If using second skin

  • Leave the second skin on for about 3-6 days

  • Take off the second skin under water* (in the shower is best). Pull slowly backwards and
try to take it off in one piece. (*Clean, running water is ok, still/Steam is not!)

  • Wash your tattoo with soap and water.

  • Keep A thin layer of lotion on your new tattoo as it will be dry for about a week or more.

  • DO NOT LEAVE ON FOR THE FULL 5-6 DAYS IF:

    • You are having an allergic reaction (you will notice rashy red areas around the edges of the bandage that are extra itchy).

    • Any part of the tattoo becomes exposed. (The bandage does tend to roll at the edges. Try
not to pick at it.)

    • The second skin fills up with fluid to the point you think it will leak/pop.

*If you need to take the second skin off before 5 days, or if your tattoo still has open wounds, please follow other directions given.

it takes about 2-3 weeks for a tattoo to heal.
